What Is aProsthodontist?

Most people have never heard the word until they need one. A prosthodontist is the dental specialist trained in restoring and replacing teeth — and at Next Smile+Implant, that specialist training is behind every implant, crown, and full-arch smile we create.

The Dental Specialist in Restoring & Replacing Teeth

A prosthodontist is a recognized dental specialist with advanced training in restoring and replacing missing or damaged teeth and their surrounding structures. After dental school, becoming one requires three additional years of intensive residency training in prosthodontics — one of the dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association — and only about 1 in 100 dentists goes on to complete it.

Think of a prosthodontist as the architect of a smile. For straightforward needs, that expertise simply means an exceptional crown or a denture that truly fits. For complex cases — multiple missing teeth, a worn-down bite, a full-arch implant reconstruction — it means one specialist who can design the end result first, then plan every implant and restoration to get you there.

While many general dentists offer similar procedures, prosthodontists are the experts specifically trained to handle advanced cases involving implants, bridges, dentures, veneers, and full-arch solutions like All-on-X. If you're looking for long-term solutions and exceptional results, trust your smile to a specialist.
